As a recipient, you will work full-time on an approved research project under the direct supervision of a faculty member, gaining sustained exposure to the research process in fields ranging from engineering and computing to sciences and liberal arts. The application requires a two-page project description written by the student and a one-page mentor/mentee expectations statement developed collaboratively with the faculty mentor, making it a competitive opportunity that requires a clear plan and established faculty relationship. The Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) places approximately 35 students from across the state in full-time working roles within the Georgia General Assembly during the spring legislative session. As a GLIP intern, you will be placed in a specific office or committee, like the Speaker's Office, Speaker Pro Tempore, President Pro Tempore, Minority Office, Ways and Means, Rules, Legislative Counsel, or House Media Services, based on a placement interview process that takes your preferences into account. Your day-to-day work will include researching legislation, monitoring the progress of bills, attending committee hearings, and completing assignments given by your supervising office, giving you firsthand knowledge of how Georgia's lawmaking process functions at the ground level.
