QuestBridge Acceptance Rate 2026
Updated: 23rd October, 2026
TL;DR
QuestBridge has two main paths: the National College Match for seniors and College Prep Scholars for juniors. QuestBridge doesn't publish a single acceptance rate, so watch the match rate instead. In 2024, about 36% of Finalists matched (2,627 of 7,288), and 2,550 matched in 2025. This guide is for low-income students weighing a binding full scholarship. If you want to build the strong academic profile QuestBridge rewards, look at the Lumiere Research Scholar Program. It pairs you 1:1 with a PhD-level mentor for an independent research project.
What is QuestBridge and how does the National College Match work?
QuestBridge is a nonprofit that connects high-achieving students from low-income families with top colleges. Its main program is the National College Match. A match means early admission and a full four-year scholarship, with no loans and no parental contribution.
Seniors apply in the fall, and QuestBridge names a group of Finalists. The 2026 application deadline was October 1, and 2027 dates aren't posted yet. Finalists can then rank up to 15 partner colleges. If a college picks you from its applicant pool, you match.
QuestBridge also runs the College Prep Scholars Program for high school juniors. It offers college admissions conferences, summer program scholarships, and a head start on the Match in senior year. QuestBridge chose 3,852 juniors as College Prep Scholars in 2026.
What is the QuestBridge acceptance rate?
QuestBridge doesn't publish one acceptance rate, so you have to read the funnel. In 2024, about 29% of applicants became Finalists, and about 36% of Finalists matched. That works out to roughly 10% of all applicants matching.
The math comes from two QuestBridge releases. The December 2, 2024 press release reports 7,288 Finalists and 2,627 matches. The January 31, 2025 press release reports over 25,500 applicants.
We couldn't find an applicant count for 2025 or 2026, so 2024 is the newest full funnel. In 2025, 2,550 Finalists matched. For the 2026 cycle, QuestBridge named 7,526 Finalists, and Match Day is December 1, 2026. It's always good to check the official site for updates.

Who is eligible for QuestBridge?
QuestBridge looks for high school seniors who do well in school and come from low-income homes. The income guideline is a household income under $65,000 a year for a family of four, with minimal assets, per the National College Match page.
Income: About 89% of the 2026 Finalists come from households earning under $65,000 a year.
Grades: You should earn mostly A's in the hardest courses your school offers. The 2026 Finalists had an average unweighted GPA of 3.9.
Test scores: If reported, the middle 50% of 2026 Finalists scored 1300–1460 on the SAT or 27–33 on the ACT.
Writing and curiosity: A sharp essay carries weight, and our guide on how to write your personal statement walks through the process.
Character: QuestBridge also looks for resilience, integrity, and motivation.
What happens if you are a Finalist but do not match?
You still have strong options. Finalists who don't match can use QuestBridge Regular Decision, which has no application fees for its partner colleges. You pick colleges in early November and submit the QuestBridge Regular Decision Form in December. Each college then sets its own deadline for the rest of your application.
QuestBridge says its partner colleges meet 100% of demonstrated need, and you hear back in the spring, per its Regular Decision page. The Match is the fastest route to a full scholarship, but it isn't the only route.
One catch matters here. If you don't rank any colleges, you can't get the Match Scholarship and can only apply through Regular Decision.
Which colleges partner with QuestBridge?
QuestBridge has 55 college partners, per its college partners page. The list includes Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Columbia, Duke, and Vanderbilt, plus selective liberal arts colleges.
Several partners are liberal arts colleges, including Amherst, Williams, and Wesleyan, which show up in our guide to the Little Ivies. You can rank up to 15 partner colleges, but you can match to only one. Colleges don't see where you rank them, so list schools in the order you'd truly want them.
Is QuestBridge worth it?
For students who fit the income and academic profile, QuestBridge is worth the effort. The upside is a full scholarship worth over $360,000, and applying costs you nothing but time. The main catch is the binding match, which asks you to commit before you see other offers. QuestBridge also pairs well with other recognition, like the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Pros -
A match gives you a full four-year scholarship worth over $360,000, with no loans and no parental contribution.
A match also gives you early admission to a partner college.
Regular Decision has no application fees, and partner colleges meet 100% of demonstrated need.
You join a community of over 35,000 QuestBridge Scholars and alumni.
Cons -
A match is binding, so you commit to attend before comparing other aid offers (MIT is the one exception).
The income guideline of under $65,000 for a family of four rules out many families.
Only about 36% of Finalists matched in 2024, so a Finalist spot doesn't promise a match.
The deadline comes early, October 1 in 2026, so your essays and records must be ready by early fall.
Frequently asked questions: QuestBridge acceptance rate
Is the QuestBridge match binding?
Yes. If you match, you commit to attend that college the following fall, per the QuestBridge ranking colleges page. You match to only one school, so you should rank only colleges you would be glad to attend. The one exception the page notes is MIT.
What GPA do you need for QuestBridge?
QuestBridge's pages don't list a minimum GPA. Its 2026 Finalists averaged a 3.9 unweighted GPA, per the Finalist Profile. The site asks for mostly A's in the most challenging courses your school offers. Strong grades in your hardest classes matter more than a single number.
Can you apply to colleges regular decision if you do not match?
Yes. Finalists who don't match can use QuestBridge Regular Decision, which has no application fees at partner colleges. You can also apply to any other college through its own regular decision round. A Finalist who doesn't match keeps every normal application option.
What does a QuestBridge match cover?
A match covers the full cost of attendance for four years, including tuition, housing and food, books and supplies, and travel, per QuestBridge's December 1, 2025 press release. It includes no loans and no parental contribution. QuestBridge values the scholarship at over $360,000 across four years.
When is QuestBridge Match Day?
Match Day for the 2026 cycle is December 1, 2026, per the QuestBridge dates and deadlines page. The 2025 results came out on December 1, 2025. You see your result in your QuestBridge account. It's always good to check the official page for any date changes.
Can juniors apply to QuestBridge?
Yes, through the College Prep Scholars Program. It gives juniors a head start on the National College Match in senior year, plus college admissions conferences and summer program scholarships. QuestBridge chose 3,852 juniors in 2026. We couldn't find a posted deadline for the next group, but it's always good to check the official website first.
Missed this year's October 1 deadline, or worried that only about 36% of Finalists matched in 2024? Look at the Lumiere Research Scholar Program. It pairs you with a PhD-level mentor for a 12-week, 1-on-1 independent research project, done online, with 3 post-baccalaureate credits from UC San Diego Extended Studies. Apply here.
