If you're in high school and interested in finance, gaining practical experience in the field early on can help build advanced skills and explore career paths. Finance internships let you work with financial data, analyze investments, and understand how businesses manage money while connecting with professionals in the field.


As an intern, you can learn budgeting, risk assessment, financial modeling, portfolio management, and market research while using tools like Excel, Python, and Bloomberg Terminals. Some internships also focus on investment banking and corporate finance, while others cover personal finance, economic research, or fintech. Whether you want to explore finance or see if it’s the right fit for your trajectory in college, these internships should be on your list.


Below, we've compiled 8 online finance internships for high school students.


8 Online Finance Internships for High School Students


Cost: Starting at $2,490. Need-based financial aid is available.

Dates: Multiple cohorts throughout the year. The summer cohort begins June 2.

Application deadline: Deadlines vary depending on the cohort. The application deadline for regular admission to the Summer Cohort is April 13! 

Eligibility: Students who can work for 5-10 hours//week for 8-12 weeks are eligible to apply. Open to high school students, undergraduates, and gap year students!


Ladder Internships is a selective online program for high school students, giving you hands-on experience in finance, tech, AI/ML, health tech, marketing, journalism, consulting, and more. You’ll intern with high-growth start-ups, many of which have raised over $1 million in funding.

Over 8 weeks, you’ll work on real-world projects, receive guidance from company managers and a Ladder Coach, and present your work at the end. The program is project-based, helping you build industry skills and gain practical experience. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and you can explore available opportunities through the application form.


Cost: $1,291.

Dates: July

Application Deadline: Rolling deadlines.

Eligibility: High school students aged 15-18 years are eligible to apply.


FinTech, or financial technology, is changing how individuals and businesses manage money by introducing innovations like blockchain, digital currencies, and automated investment platforms. This month-long online FinTech internship explores how technology is transforming finance.


You’ll analyze these innovations and evaluate their impact on banking, investments, and financial services. Over four weekend sessions (totaling 12 hours of live mentorship), you’ll work on a research paper on FinTech’s future, contributing to an academic publication. At the end of the program, you’ll receive a Letter of Recommendation and a Certificate of Achievement.


Cost: Starting at $1,099.

Dates: The internship is available throughout the year.

Application Deadline: Rolling deadlines.

Eligibility: High school students aged 16 or older are eligible to apply.


The Remote Finance Internship in Spain provides practical experience in industries like venture capital, consulting, and accounting. You will work within financial departments, focusing on investment analysis, market research, and financial performance assessment. Tasks may include analyzing investment opportunities, managing budgets, and attending virtual business events. Throughout the internship, you will maintain regular communication with your supervisor, receive ongoing feedback, and participate in virtual meetings. 


Cost: $4,099. Need-based financial aid is available

Dates: Session I: June 16 - June 27 | Session II: July 7 - July 18.

Application Deadline: Priority deadline: April 2 | Final deadline: May 1.

Eligibility: High school students currently enrolled in grades 9–12 are eligible to apply.


The Wharton Global Youth Program – Financial Decision Making is a two-week online program designed for high school students interested in economics and finance. Modeled after Wharton’s undergraduate finance curriculum, it covers financial data analysis, risk assessment, investment strategies, and economic decision-making.


Each day includes two hours of live instruction with faculty, followed by a one-hour recitation led by Teaching Assistants. You will analyze real-world financial datasets, collaborate on group projects, and engage with peers worldwide. By the end of the program, you will have developed skills in budgeting, market analysis, and financial decision-making. You’ll also receive a Wharton Global Youth Certificate of Completion.


Cost: $1200.

Dates: Week 1: June 16-20 | Week 2: June 23-27 | Week 3: July 21-25.

Application Deadline: April 1.

Eligibility: High school students are eligible to apply.


The Gabelli School of Business Finance Institute is a week-long online program for high school students interested in finance. You will engage with core financial concepts through instruction from faculty, industry professionals, and the Gabelli School alumni.


The curriculum covers economic fundamentals, financial markets, personal finance, and investment strategies. You will learn about savings, investing, debt management, stocks, bonds, hedge funds, private equity, risk management, and monetary policy. The program also explores emerging financial sectors like cryptocurrency, providing insights into the evolving finance industry.


Cost: $3,960.

Dates: Summer A: July 7 to July 18 | Summer B: July 21 to August 1.

Eligibility: High school students are eligible to apply.


The Columbia University Introduction to Business, Finance, and Economics online program explores how businesses make financial decisions and raise capital. You will study investment evaluation models, funding sources, and the role of financial markets in securing capital.

The program covers market valuation, financial instruments, and microeconomic principles that influence business strategy. You will also analyze stocks, bonds, valuation models, and stock market mechanics while examining the history and structure of financial markets. 


Cost: $1,490. Need-based financial aid is available. 

Dates: June 9 - June 13.

Application Deadline: June 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Eligibility: High school students in grades 9-12 with a passion for financial literacy.


The Wall Street 101 Program at Bentley University offers hands-on financial literacy training, covering 15–20% of a college-level finance curriculum. You will use Bloomberg and FactSet for investment analysis, participate in trading simulations, debates, and group projects, and attend guest lectures to develop insights into capital markets.


The Macroeconomics and Financial Markets online course explores how economic conditions, government policies, and global events impact financial markets. You will analyze inflation, interest rates, and political crises to understand market fluctuations and economic trends.


Cost: $1,795. Need-based financial aid is available. 

Dates: Self-paced, available year-round. May 4 — June 1 for the current program!

Application Deadline: April 27 for the current program. 

Eligibility: All high school students can apply.


The Georgetown University - Becoming an Investor: An Inside Look at Finance program introduces high school students to financial markets, investment strategies, and fintech innovations. You will explore valuation models, stock pricing, and portfolio management, gaining hands-on experience in building an investment portfolio. While this isn't a traditional internship, you can expect to follow a work-learn structure.


The curriculum covers U.S. stock trading, wealth creation strategies, and digital assets like cryptocurrencies. In the capstone project, you will analyze a public company, estimate investor returns and risks, assess shareholder advantages, and explore future opportunities. Upon completion, you will earn a Certificate of Completion from Georgetown University.
