The Sutton Trust Summer Schools allow you to experience life at a leading UK university while exploring subjects at an undergraduate level. During the program, you will attend lectures, seminars, and academic workshops in your chosen field, such as biosciences, chemistry, earth sciences, mathematics, or physics. You will live in university accommodation and interact with professors, student mentors, and peers from across the UK. The program also includes sessions that guide you through the university application process, including UCAS advice and personal statement preparation. In addition to academic sessions, you will take part in social activities and campus events that introduce you to university life beyond the classroom. The Lumiere Research Scholar Program is a rigorous research program tailored for high school students. The program offers extensive 1-on-1 research opportunities across a wide range of subject areas for high schoolers to explore. The program pairs you with Ph.D. mentors to work 1-on-1 on an independent research project. At the end of the program, you will have developed an independent research paper! Eligibility: UK and Islands state school students in Year 12 (England/Wales), Year 13 (Northern Ireland), or S5 (Scotland) who are under 18 and have at least six GCSEs (or six National 5s in Scotland) with at least one at grade 7/A or above; priority is given to students from underrepresented backgrounds.


The UNIQ Summer School at the University of Oxford gives you the opportunity to experience academic life at one of the UK’s most prestigious universities while exploring a subject, with options including natural science tracks like chemistry, geology, earth science, and biology. During the program, you will participate in lectures, seminars, and independent study sessions designed to reflect Oxford’s distinctive tutorial-style learning approach. Living in college accommodation will help you experience student life and better understand the academic environment at Oxford. Alongside academic sessions, you will attend skills workshops and receive mentoring and guidance about the university admissions process. You will live on campus and study in small groups of 4 to 10 students, and learn from tutors from top universities like Oxford and Cambridge. You can explore a wide range of subjects, spanning over 20 options, including the natural sciences track, where you will study biology, chemistry, and physics through hands-on experiments, fieldwork, and mentoring. You will also have access to one-on-one tutoring and personalized guidance to help you prepare for future academics. Dates: January 12 – May 3 (three phases + an optional four-day residential August 16 – 22)

Eligibility: UK students in Year 12 (or equivalent) attending a state (non-fee-paying) school, or mature students (age 21+ at university entry) who are self-studying pursuing A-Level Maths and at least one science subject, with minimum GCSE grades of 7 (A) in Maths and 6 (B) in two sciences; applicants must also meet at least one of the non-academic criteria listed here.


The STEM SMART program at the University of Cambridge is a free 16-month program designed to help you strengthen your academic preparation for university-level science and mathematics. During the program, you will participate in advanced online tutorials, problem-solving sessions, and mentoring led by Cambridge academics and subject specialists. The curriculum is split into three phases, each focusing on deepening your understanding of STEM subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering through academic material that goes beyond the typical school syllabus. In the final phase, you will prepare for your A-Level exams through continued practice and weekly tutorials. Alongside academic instruction, you will receive mentoring and guidance on applying to competitive universities. The program also introduces you to Cambridge-style teaching methods and encourages independent thinking and analytical reasoning.

The Imperial College London Insights Summer School allows you to explore science and engineering while experiencing life at one of the UK’s leading STEM universities. During this four-day residential program, you can choose either the science or engineering stream and participate in subject-specific academic sessions. In the science stream, you will explore topics in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics through lectures, workshops, and hands-on laboratory activities. In the engineering stream, you will investigate different engineering disciplines and learn about emerging technologies through practical demonstrations and group activities. You will work closely with undergraduate mentors and stay in university halls, gaining a realistic sense of student life. The program concludes with an academic-style conference where you will present a poster explaining a concept you explored during the week.

Eligibility: Year 12 students from Schools based in the UK who are studying chemistry at A level or IB; for fully funded spots, applicants should be in Year 12 at non-selective state schools or colleges in the UK, must have achieved a minimum of 5 A* – C or 4 – 9 grades, with a C/4 in English and Maths, and be on track to achieve a minimum of BBB at A level, 30 points in IB (inc. 5,5,5 in three HL quals), or equivalent.


The Queen Mary Chemistry Residential Summer School is a short residential program that introduces you to university-level chemistry taught in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences teaching labs. You will attend lectures and small-group workshops that introduce experimental techniques and research methods in chemistry, alongside hands-on lab sessions led by academic staff. You will learn about lab techniques, data collection and analysis, science communication, and safe lab practices. The program will pair you with tutors and current undergraduates for mentoring and small-group projects, and includes campus tours and social activities to help you contextualize the academic work. You will also attend sessions covering interview skills and personal statement questions to support UCAS applications.

The King’s College London Pre-University Summer School allows you to experience university-style learning while studying on campus at one of the UK’s leading research universities. During the program, you will attend lectures and seminars led by King’s faculty and academic tutors with courses spanning natural science, other STEM areas, and social sciences. Classes are interactive and involve discussions, simulation exercises, case studies, and Q&A sessions with guest speakers. You will also complete assignments designed to mirror university-level assessments and receive feedback from instructors. At the end of the course, you will receive a King’s Certificate of Completion.

The Imperial Global Summer School allows you to study STEM subjects at one of the world’s leading science and engineering universities. During the program, you will attend lectures, laboratory sessions, and practical workshops taught by Imperial faculty and researchers. You can choose a subject track such as chemistry, physics, or life sciences. During the second week, you will collaborate with students from different disciplines to tackle a real-world Innovation Challenge led by the Imperial Enterprise Lab. Alongside academic sessions, you will receive guidance about applying to universities in the UK and studying at Imperial. As part of the residential program, you will stay in student accommodation on the South Kensington campus and take part in social activities and events across London.

The University of Edinburgh Pre-University Summer School allows you to experience academic life at one of the United Kingdom’s leading universities. During the two-week residential program, you will attend lectures, seminars, and interactive academic sessions led by experienced teaching staff at the University of Edinburgh. The Life Sciences track introduces key concepts in biology, chemistry, and related scientific fields. The program combines classroom learning with discussions, collaborative activities, and academic assignments designed to reflect university-level study. You will also live in catered accommodation and participate in social and cultural activities across the city of Edinburgh. The Warwick Pre-University Summer School gives you the opportunity to explore academic subjects while experiencing life at a UK university. During the program, you will attend lectures, seminars, and skills workshops led by Warwick faculty members. You can enroll in the Science and Engineering or Health, Medical, and Life Sciences courses, which introduce key concepts in scientific research and innovation across natural sciences. The program includes approximately 29 hours of academic instruction along with sessions focused on communication and personal effectiveness. You will live on campus alongside other students and be supported by Warwick student ambassadors throughout the experience. In addition to academic activities, the program includes cultural trips, such as visits to Oxford and Warwick Castle, as well as social events designed to help you connect with peers from around the world.

The Leeds Futures — Environment program allows you to explore environmental science and geography-related fields while preparing for university study. The program runs alongside your regular school schedule and includes a combination of online sessions and in-person campus visits at the University of Leeds. During weekly after-school sessions, you will participate in workshops covering topics such as climate change impacts, microplastics in the environment, flood resilience, sustainability, and geosciences. You can select sessions aligned with your interests and A-level subjects, exploring both human and physical geography as well as earth and environmental sciences. The program also includes progression workshops focused on university applications, career pathways, and student life. Two campus visits during the year allow you to experience university facilities, meet academic staff, and participate in hands-on activities connected to environmental research and sustainability.
